Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, located just south of Downtown Miami, is a National Historic Landmark including a museum. Built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, it features a Main House, and ten acres of formal gardens. Vizcaya is an area in Miami Dade County where a unique and hand-built natural resource was conceived. Now it is a place where people go to learn about art, interior design, architecture, landscape design, horticulture, and the environment. John Deering was the first owner of Vizcaya, which is a huge structure teaming with European inspiration. One event offered at Vizcaya is an over-night stay at the mansion experiencing firsthand what Mr. Deering and guests might have done. Seeing a movie of both modern day and an historic silent film.
